Hurting All Over
I recently read an interesting article of a man who suddenly began to feel pain all over his body. Convinced something major was wrong and that he should be concerned, he went to his family physician to see what could be done.
He told the doctor, pointing to his head and touching his temple said, “my head hurts.” He went to various parts of his body such as his shoulder, his knee, his stomach, his wrist and sure enough, it was all very painful. The doctor could not quite figure it out so he ordered a full body scan to get to the bottom of it.
Once the scan was finished and reports were placed in his hand to be evaluated, he quickly assessed the problem. It seems that his head was fine, his shoulder was fine, as was his stomach and his wrist. The doctor reported to him, “what I did find is, you have broken your finger” thus explaining why every part of his body he touched seemed to be painful.
This makes me think of a lot of people, life is filtered through their negative experiences with other people. When our attitude or outlook is off, it would appear that it is always “the other person” or the “other thing” that is bringing so much pain when actually, it was ourself all along.
Maybe it is time we the Lord examine every part of us and deal with what brings turbulence and pain.
