REMEMBER WHEN!
As I was driving to church last Sunday, I began to think about the last six months of my life, which have been a spiritually dry and stressful season in my life in many ways. I began to feel sorry for myself and feel down.
We all go through these times in the walk of life, but God! But God dropped the word “remember” in my spirit. And I knew God was telling me to remember…..not the hard times, but His faithfulness. So I changed my thought process and thought of the faithfulness of God in my life.
We see throughout the Bible that remembering is important to God.
Over 300 times, the Bible talks about remembering. Remembering the mighty acts of God literally shaped generations. We don’t often see the wisdom of remembering until we have come through a bad season. Remembering reminds me of God’s presence during hard times. During dark times! During times I don’t think I can make it through – but I do. It causes me to know even when I can’t see clearly at the time, God came through for me over and over again and He won’t fail me this time.
I read that remembering was like reaching into the dark of the ocean to grab ahold of something you can’t see. But as your hand comes up, within it is a beautiful seashell. I can relate to that, as it is something most of us have done in our lifetime. Remembering God‘s faithfulness in dark times is just like that – Reaching into the dark, and grasping a treasure, that seems somewhat out of reach.
Take time today to remember all the things God has done for you. Remember the times He has come through for you. Remember His faithfulness.
I love Psalm 37:3. Trust in the Lord, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Remembering does just that – it causes us to FEED on His faithfulness. And it will bring us through, every single time. Don’t feed on disappointments – look back, remember and feed on His faithfulness.
